Library UPT and FKP3-Undip presenting webinar series 16 with a topic Utilizing MS Office for Qualitative Data Processing. Now Library UPT and FPK3 – Undip bring in one of the Library Sciences lecturers, Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.IM., P.hD. as a speaker.

This webinar is open to the public and held on 20th July 2022. This event was magnificent, with interactive discussions between participants and speakers. Not only that, the participant that attended this webinar come from different institute backgrounds. Someone comes from the University of Indonesia, Diponegoro University, and many more.

At the start of the event, Library UPT and FKP3-Undip explain that qualitative research is a descriptive research and tends to use analysis. The process and meaning are highlighted in qualitative research with the aim of explaining the phenomenon more deeply through deeper data collection. Qualitative research emphasizes the depth of data obtained by researchers. The deeper and more detailed the data obtained, the quality of this research is better. Qualitative research requires accurate data processing. Then this webinar aims to reveal how to process qualitative research data, especially using MS Office.

Heriyanto conveys that the first stage of qualitative data processing is by changing the voice recorder into a text. Then the next step is to define the code (coding), re-read the code that has already been made, and also group all the code. Then the final analysis in processing qualitative data is done by determining the theme. “Every theme we meet here tells a pattern. Patterns that are relevant to the events studied” explained Heriyanto.

There are approximately 10 questions that were submitted to Heriyanto after the presentation has done. Heriyanto gave his closing statement “Hopefully whatever we know about the complexity of the research method will not discourage us from doing research, especially librarians,” he said.
