Semarang, February 4-6, 2025 – The Library and Information Science Study Program, in collaboration with the Information Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, successfully held Library Management Training for librarians and library staff from 50 archives and libraries throughout Indonesia. This activity lasted for three days, from February 4 to 6, 2025 in Semarang.
This training aims to improve the competence of librarians and library staff in managing libraries professionally, improving information services, and utilizing information technology in library services.
This activity presents a number of speakers from the Library and Information Science Study Program who have expertise in the field of libraries and information, namely:
- Mr. Heriyanto, Ph.D. – discusses strategies for cooperation between libraries.
- Dr. Putut Suharso – provides material related to planning and budgeting.
- Mr. Mecca Arfa, M.IP– discusses ancient manuscript preservation strategies.
- Dr. Yuli Rohmiyati – reviews the planning and development aspects of information collections and services.
- Ms. Athanasia Octaviani Puspita Dewi, M.Si – provides technical and strategic guidance on information systems.
- Ms. Roro Isya Permata Ganggi – discusses strategies for promoting library and information services based on information and communication technology.
During the training, participants received a theoretical explanation and direct practice in library management, including the use of library automation systems, service improvement strategies, and the use of digital technology to support wider access to information. Interactive discussions were also an important part of this activity, where participants could share experiences and challenges faced in managing libraries in their respective regions.
This activity received a positive response from the participants who considered the material presented to be very relevant and applicable in improving their capacity as librarians and library managers. One participant revealed that this training provided new insights and concrete solutions to the challenges they face in regional libraries.
With the end of this training, it is hoped that librarians and library staff can implement the knowledge gained to improve library services in their respective regions, as well as strengthen the role of the library as a center for community information and literacy (Reportage Team).
