Semarang (6/24) – The Library Science Study Program, Diponegoro University has just held a soft skills training with “Recognizing the Potential of SLiMS as Information Management Software” as the theme. The training was held on Wednesday, June 5 at building A of the Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, and was attended by 190 participants, including lecturers and other students.

SLiMS is a popular open-source library management system used in various Indonesian libraries. Training aimed to improve participants’ knowledge and skills in using SLiMS to manage the library. This training was not only filled with material but also direct practice. The training was delivered by Wardiyono, S.S., MBA. He is a lecturer from YARSI University. In his presentation, Wardiyono emphasized that the school library accreditation component includes 13 items, but the highlight is the collection, service, management, and reading level. Some of these items require SLiMS as library development, and through SLiMS the four points will be greatly helped.

During the event, participants listened well to the training provided by Wardiyono. At the end of the event, several participants were enthusiastic about giving messages and impressions regarding the material presented by Wardiyono. One of them, was the impression conveyed by Fauzan, who claimed to be very impressed with the training provided by Wardiyono.

“This training is very useful for me, because I can learn various features and benefits of SLiMS that can help me in managing the library in the future,” said Fauzan.

With this training, students are expected to become reliable and professional librarians in future. In addition, this training is also expected to increase cooperation between the Library Science Study Program, Diponegoro University with various parties, including school libraries and the wider community.
