Semarang (03/24) On March 23, 2024, one of the work programs in the field of strategic studies was held, namely Libs Discussion Series #6. This event was held from 08.00-12.00 located in room C.01-C.04 building C, Faculty of Humanity, Diponegoro University. This activity was attended by 28 participants who were Library Science students from semester 2, 4 and 6. Libs Discussion Series is a work program in the field of strategic studies of HMPS Library Science which provides a forum for Library Science students to discuss with each other, public speaking practice, and critical thinking.
LDS #6 carries the theme “Think Critically, Act Wisely: Empowering Minds with Digital Information Literacy”. LDS #6 is also different from before, this time it has 4 different discussion topics for each group including:
- Lack of student literacy in responding to infographic content on social media
- The importance of information literacy in helping people avoid the spread of hoaxes
- The influence of clickbait in the search for information needs
- Strategies to foster a culture of critical thinking and skepticism
After the opening of the event, participants were divided into 4 groups, each group was accompanied by one lighter who would accompany the participants during the discussion activities. Participants will enter 4 different rooms according to their group. This room division is expected to be an active and comfortable discussion space for participants to express their opinions.
After the discussion activity ends, participants will return to the main room in room C.02 to present the results of their discussion to other participants. This presentation session was delivered by group representatives who had volunteered. Here is the documentation with 4 group representatives:
Through this Libs Discussion Series #6 activity, it is hoped that participants will benefit in the form of new insights, relationships, and valuable experiences for participants. In addition, it is hoped that library science students will be more interested in participating in the Libs Discussion Series to add insight at the field of library science apart from the lessons given in class.
