Semarang, September 4, 2025 -Exciting news comes from Fadhil Khoiri, a student majoring in Library and Information Science at Diponegoro University, who has achieved international success in the ASEAN Exchange: Youth Inter-Action Exploration (YIAE) Chapter 3, organized by Indonesian Youth Action (IYA) from August 11–16, 2025, in three countries: Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
A total of 30 delegates from various universities and high schools across more than 20 provinces in Indonesia, including South Sulawesi, East Java, Aceh, East Kalimantan, and Papua, participated in this international event. Additionally, participants from several foreign universities also attended the event. The program is designed to enhance leadership skills, literacy, and public speaking abilities, while also producing a policy brief that supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the program, delegates participated in various activities, including
- University Exploration at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
- Cultural and historical exploration, including a visit to Putrajaya to learn about Malaysia’s government system and the Petronas Twin Towers landmark in Kuala Lumpur.
- Policy Brief Presentation, a forum for presenting SDG-based policy ideas.
- An official visit to the Indonesian Consulate General in Penang, as well as an award certificate presentation ceremony.
- Cultural and tourist exploration in Thailand, including Chang Puak Camp, Sleeping Buddha, and Samila Beach in Songkhla City.
At this prestigious event, the team led by Fadhil Khoiri won the Best Team award. As team leader, Fadhil was the driving force in maintaining coordination, uniting the team members’ ideas, and ensuring the team performed cohesively in front of the international judges. This achievement reinforces Fadhil’s role as a leader who is able to guide the team to perform at their best on the international stage.
“I am proud to represent Diponegoro University, especially the Library and Information Science study program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, in this program. This activity not only trains leadership and builds international connections but also provides valuable experience to get to know firsthand the cultural diversity in other countries,” said Fadhil Khoiri.
This achievement also serves as tangible proof that strong collaboration, communication, and leadership can yield outstanding accomplishments on the international stage. This success is expected to motivate Indonesia’s younger generation to continue developing their potential, play an active role on the international stage, and bring home valuable knowledge and experience that can be applied for the advancement of the nation. Thus, this achievement is not only a source of pride for the individual and the team but also a tangible contribution to the advancement of the nation at both the national and international levels.
