Semarang (10/24), the Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University held another webinar with the theme “Effective Communication Through Bookstagram”. This event presented DKI Jakarta Literacy Ambassador, Hestia Istiviani S. IIP, as the main speaker. This training was held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 online which was attended by all Library and Information Science students Class of 2023.

In her presentation entitled “Starting from Content, Leading to Cool Opportunities”, Hestia shared her experiences and strategies in using the Bookstagram platform to build effective communication.

Hestia began her presentation by explaining the importance of an elevator pitch, which is a technique used to attract the attention of others by delivering information in a short and concise manner. She emphasized that strong personal branding and involvement in various activities are key to building a good network.

One of the main highlights of Hestia’s presentation was how quality content can influence the way people see and enjoy books. She also shared her experience in creating posts on how to access books, and how such content can create a larger community of book lovers.

“By creating interesting content, we are not only sharing our passion for books, but also inviting others to see reading as an entertainment channel,” Hestia explained. She added that when someone starts to think of reading as entertainment, they will become a conscious reader and potentially a long live reader.

This webinar not only provided new insights for students, but also inspired them to be more active in using social media as a tool to communicate and share their love for books. Hestia closed the session by inviting students to continue to work and take advantage of the opportunities that exist in the world of literacy. This activity is expected to encourage students to develop their communication skills and increase their understanding of the importance of literacy in the digital era.
