Branjang Village, West Ungaran—Branjang Village, located in West Ungaran District, Semarang, is one of the tourist villages that holds potential for local creative businesses. One such business is the UMKM named Antoaquarium & Art, which specializes in aquatic landscape art or aquascaping. Despite offering artistic and appealing products, this UMKM still faces limitations in effectively communicating the image and value of its products on a broader scale. Information has been shared verbally and through other UMKM e-commerce platforms, but it has not been documented in a structured manner, making it difficult for potential buyers or the general public to access and learn more about the products.
To address this need, students from the Kuliah Kerja Nyata Tematik (KKN-T) Team 107 of Diponegoro University initiated a QR code-based information digitization program. This program is designed not only as a promotional tool but also as a strategy to build product image through strong and easily accessible narratives. Narratives are used to introduce the history, cultural values, and functional aspects of aquascape products so that the image formed is not only visual but also informative and valuable.
In practice, several team members collaborated to compile and package the information digitally. Nova, Diva, and Lietan compiled narratives describing the historical and cultural background of aquascaping from various perspectives, and Ilham compiled technical product care guides, while Anjani and Engga were responsible for managing digital media. All this content was compiled into a single Linktree page featuring historical narratives, cultural values, maintenance guidelines, UMKM profile videos, links to e-commerce platforms like Shopee and Tokopedia, and contact information. This Linktree was then converted into a QR code and printed to be affixed to product packaging for easy access by consumers.
Through the QR code, the product’s image is not only shaped by its physical appearance but also through structured and valuable information. Narratives are an important tool in building an authentic product identity, creating emotional connection, and distinguishing local products from others. This innovation is expected to support sustainable promotion of UMKM and strengthen the competitiveness of Antoaquarium & Art’s aquascape products in the digital era.
