Bergas Lor-Semarang, 07 July 2025 Students of the KKN-T 108 Community Service Program from Diponegoro University have introduced a new literacy management innovation through a program titled “Centralized Inventory System and Periodic Collection Rotation (SITRONIKA)”. Launched on July 7, 2025, the program aims to improve the efficiency of book asset management and revitalize reading activities at the Reading Corner (Pojok Baca) of RW 5 in Bergas Lor Village, Semarang Regency.

SITRONIKA is structured into three main stages. The first stage involved coordination with the local reading corner managers and the preparation of a master inventory book as a centralized data reference. This served as a foundation for a more organized and traceable book management system. In the second stage, the students conducted a physical inventory of all books, manually recording each item and marking them with ownership stamps indicating they belong to TBM Warung Pasinaon.

The final stage is the implementation of a weekly book rotation system. Every week, 50 book titles from TBM Warung Pasinaon are selected and distributed to the RW 5 reading corner, while older collections are withdrawn. This system is designed to ensure a dynamic circulation of books that aligns with the readers’ interests.

Two weeks into the program, SITRONIKA has achieved a 70% success rate. Book management has become more efficient, and children’s interest in reading at the RW 5 reading corner has begun to grow. However, challenges arose during the first week when the initial book collection was not fully utilized by visitors, causing delays in the rotation schedule.

Fortunately, improvements were observed in the second week. Local reading corner managers became more involved, and children began to visit and read more regularly. This positive development indicates that the program is beginning to fulfill its goal of fostering a reading culture in the community.

To ensure the program’s sustainability, the students have planned several follow-up actions. Regular evaluations will be conducted through periodic meetings and manual tracking of visitor data to assess the effectiveness of the book rotation and the relevance of book selections. A suggestion box has also been provided to gather community input on preferred book titles.

The next focus will be to maintain consistent implementation and strengthen the role of local managers. With increasing community engagement, SITRONIKA is expected to continue operating effectively as a sustainable book management system that directly contributes to improving literacy within the community.
