Semarang (4/24). On Saturday, 30 March 2024, s charity event and iftar were held in order to enliven the month of Ramadan, at the Al Amanah Orphanage Semarang. This event was organized by the Student Welfare and Community Service Division of HMPS Library Science 2024, Faculty of humanities, Diponegoro University in collaboration with generous donors.
The event started at 16.00 WIB which began with remarks from the chief executive, chairman of HMPS Library Science, and representatives of the orphanage management. In his speech, Virtu Ozo – as the President of HMPS Library Science, expressed her gratitude to the management of Al Amanah for allowing the association to organize activities at the orphanage. Representatives of Al Amanah Orphanage also expressed their gratitude for the visit from Library Science Student Association. “We also thank you very much for the presence of the Library Science Student Association, the donations you gave really helped us at the Al Amanah Orphanage” said Syamsudin – Al Amanah Orphanage Manager.
The event continued with entertainment games followed by the orphaned children. The orphanage children were divided into 4 groups and competed in 2 games, namely kuda bisik games and glass matching games. At the end of the game, two groups won, they are the second group and the fourth group. Each member of the winning group received a gift in the form of a set of stationery that had been prepared by the committee beforehand.
As the maghrib call sounded, participants and organizers pray iftar dua together, led by the Chief Organizer – Ilham Syahputra. Both participants and organizers ate the deliciously served takjil. After that, the committee and participants prepared for Maghrib prayer in congregation, then continued with dinner together.
The most eagerly awaited peak moment was the handover of donations. This handover was represented by Ilham Syahputra and Fikri as committee representatives and Mr Syamsudin as a representative of the Al Amanah Orphanage management. The handover was witnessed by the Head of the Library Science Department along with the Organization’s Supervisory Board. The items donated by the committee were basic foodstuffs such as rice, oil, and instant noodles, as well as financial donations. The event was then closed with a group photo by the participants, committee, and all invited guests.
With the implementation of this Semarak Ramadhan Berbagi program, it is hoped that it can make Ramadan more meaningful for students through sharing activities with orphanage children. In addition, it is hoped that this activity can remind individuals to always be grateful to Allah SWT for all the blessings of sustenance that have been given.
