Semarang (27/05/20245), the Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University once again held a guest lecture event titled “The Use of AI in Scientific Writing.” This guest lecture featured Dr. Yaniasih, S.T.P., M.P., a researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in the field of information science. The guest lecture took place online on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and was attended by Library and Information Science students of the 2023 cohort.

In her presentation titled “AI for Final Project Research and Scientific Papers,” Dr. Yaniasih shared a wealth of experiences and material on optimizing AI to assist in writing and research activities. One of her opening quotes for the session was, “We must understand that AI has greatly intervened in our daily activities today and, of course, we cannot avoid various technological advancements. Therefore, the only choice is to use them wisely—with proper intention and appropriate usage.”

In her daily work as a researcher, Dr. Yaniasih frequently interacts with various AI tools. In her presentation, she explained that users must remain prudent and transparent when utilizing AI to fulfill their responsibilities, especially in meeting daily academic demands. Dr. Yaniasih elaborated on how to optimize the use of AI tools while ensuring that the core essence, which should never be lost from a student, is maintained. She also discussed in detail the different types of AI tools and how to ensure our research aligns with the appropriate academic conventions and structure, even when extensively involving AI tools in the process.

Essentially, she explained that AI tools should be used for technical matters, but at each stage of critical thinking, it is still humans who play the central role with their competencies. This guest lecture not only provided students with new insights but also offered encouragement and reminders to remain wise in utilizing available technology. Dr. Yaniasih also opened an interactive discussion session with the students, addressing their concerns regarding ever-evolving technology. Through this presentation, it is hoped that students will be wiser and more knowledgeable in applying AI in their daily lives and academic responsibilities.
