UNDIP Students Hold CapCut Training for Librarians at UPA Perpustakaan Polines in Support of Library Branding Program

Amidst the rapid development of digital media, libraries are required to be able to adapt in building their image and reaching a wider audience. In response to this challenge, three students from Diponegoro University, namely Abdullah Jalal Mahmud, Ilham Syahputra, and Minan Faiz Fausta Rafa, conducted a Library Branding training activity using the CapCut application at the UPA Perpustakaan Polines. This activity is part of the 5th semester Job Training program, which runs for 36 working days as a collaboration between UNDIP and Polines. Through this training, students act as facilitators in enhancing librarians’ competencies in creating creative video content to support library promotion and branding strategies in the digital age.

The training was held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, as a form of student contribution to supporting the digital transformation of libraries. As the use of social media as a public communication tool continues to grow, libraries need to provide content that is not only informative but also visually appealing and relevant to the characteristics of the younger generation. Therefore, the CapCut training was chosen as a strategic step to equip librarians with basic to intermediate skills in video editing that are practical and easy to implement.

In practice, students act as facilitators who provide direct assistance to librarians. The material presented includes an introduction to the basic features of CapCut, techniques for cutting and arranging clips, adding text and visual elements, and strategies for creating content that is in line with the library’s identity and image. This activity is conducted interactively, so that librarians not only receive theoretical material, but also practice creating video content as part of the library branding strategy.

Through this training, librarians gained a more systematic understanding of basic video editing techniques and content development strategies that are in line with the library’s identity. Several trial content pieces were successfully produced as a direct implementation of the material provided. This activity not only improved technical skills but also strengthened awareness of the importance of branding consistency and the use of social media as a means of service communication. The Head of the Polines Library, Mr. Muhammad Syam Suryanto, S.Sos., expressed his appreciation for the contribution of UNDIP students and emphasized that this training was useful and relevant to the needs of developing the library’s digital branding so that it would be implemented on an ongoing basis. This activity was also beneficial for librarians. As a form of synergy between Diponegoro University and Semarang State Polytechnic, this collaboration provided professional practical experience for students while directly contributing to the development of library service capacity and innovation. It is hoped that this cooperation will continue and have a positive impact in the future.
